The hawthorn is a small shrub that packs a punch! A thorny & dense foliage makes it a hedging staple. With tooth lobed mid-rib leaves that turn a pale yellow before falling in autumn and bright white and pink spring blossoms that are highly scented and irresistible to bees and dormice. Once pollinated the flowers turn into deep-fruit fruit known as haws which can be used to make jellies & wines. The wood can be harvested for timber, the creamy brown colour of the wood makes it great for making furniture and boat parts.
Please note: all our trees are 20 – 40cm in height, depending on the time of year they may arrive bare or with browning leaves. This is completely normal and they will perk back up in the warmer weather. Our cell grown saplings can be planted all year round if given the right care and attention.
